The closest dense market to home
Hendricks County is the western edge of the Indianapolis build-out and the nearest concentration of work to Greencastle. Avon, Plainfield, Brownsburg and Danville have been growing steadily for years, which means new residential lots, additions and drives on established properties, and sitework for the commercial and distribution ground along the I-70 and US-36 corridors.
Flat ground drains slowly
Most of the county is flat till plain, and flat is harder to drain than sloped — there is less natural fall to work with, and the clay-rich subsoil underneath does not take water quickly. That is why so much of the work here is drainage in one form or another: yard tile, catch basins, regrading around a house that was built slightly low, and swales cut to move water to somewhere it can actually leave.
