Demolition and Removal in Mooresville, IN
Mooresville is a town laid out in 1824 that grew hard in the 1990s and then stopped. So the calls split two ways: outbuildings behind the old houses in town, and the first round of decks, pools and sheds wearing out in the neighborhoods built on farm ground. Travis takes down both.

Demolition in Mooresville
Old town, 1990s neighborhoods
Samuel Moore laid out Mooresville in 1824, and the town stayed under 6,000 people until 1990. Then it jumped to about 9,300 by 2000 and has barely moved since. It sits on SR-67 in the northeast corner of Morgan County, with the Hendricks County line as its northern edge, about 40 minutes from Greencastle.
That makes for two kinds of lot. In the old part of town, there are detached garages, sheds and block outbuildings behind houses that are a century old. In the subdivisions from the 1990s, there are decks, above-ground pools and backyard sheds that are now thirty years old and done.
Creeks on both sides of town
White Lick Creek runs down the west side of Mooresville and its East Fork runs down the east, and they join south of town on the way to the White River above Martinsville. The low lots along either creek are the ones where water is already a problem before any building comes out.
On a lot like that, the hole where a foundation was is not left to find its own level. It is filled in lifts, compacted and graded with a fall. If the yard was wet to start with, yard drainage in Mooresville is the next job, and it is simplest while the machine is already there.
Barns on former farm ground
The neighborhoods that went in during the 1990s were laid over farms, and farm ground still surrounds the town. When a parcel is split for a house or a shop, the barn or machine shed on it is usually in the way. The excavator pulls it down, the tin is separated from the lumber, and the footings come out with the slab.
Where the barn stood is usually the highest, driest spot on the parcel, which is why it was put there. Travis can cut and compact a new pole barn pad in the same place once the old one is gone.
Pools, decks and getting in
In the subdivisions, the job is a pool and the deck wrapped around it, or a deck on its own with posts set in concrete. The deck is pulled down with the mini excavator, the posts and their footings come out, the pool is cut apart and stripped, and the pile goes on the trailer.
Subdivision lots here are close, so the machine goes in through the side yard or a gate, and a fence panel sometimes comes down for the day. Travis checks the route and the ground when he comes to look, because soft clay in spring will rut under a machine.
Indiana 811 and the Town of Mooresville
Indiana 811 has to be told at least two full working days ahead, and no more than ten calendar days ahead, before any excavation or demolition; it is state law. The utility disconnects any power, gas or water to the building first; a pool pump and an old garage both count.
Inside the town limits, the Town of Mooresville has a Building Department, so ask there what is needed before a date is fixed. Outside the limits, ask Morgan County. IDEM exempts a noncommercial house of four or fewer units from its asbestos inspection and notification; a commercial building is not exempt, and Travis does not take on houses that need abatement.
Afterward: gravel, pad or lawn
An in-town garage spot becomes parking on a compacted gravel base. A pool spot becomes lawn, or a stone base compacted for a patio that a concrete crew pours. A barn spot becomes a pad. Any slab or sidewalk on the same lot can be broken out and hauled on the same trip.
The number you get covers tear-down, hauling and grading in one, after a free look. The demolition and concrete prep page describes the full service, and the Mooresville page covers the rest of the work On Grade does in Morgan County.

Questions people ask
Not seeing yours? Call (317) 203-8928 and ask Travis, or read the guides.
Do you remove decks and above-ground pools in Mooresville?
Yes. The deck comes down with the mini excavator, the posts and their concrete footings are dug out, the pool is cut apart and stripped, and everything is hauled. What is left is filled, compacted and graded flush with the rest of the yard.
Who do I ask about a demolition permit in Mooresville?
Inside the town limits, ask the Town of Mooresville Building Department what is needed before a date is fixed. Outside the limits, ask Morgan County. Indiana 811 needs at least two full working days' notice before any digging or demolition.
Can you take down a barn on a parcel I am splitting?
Yes. The barn is pulled down, the material sorted and hauled, and the footings and slab come out so the builder does not hit them. Travis can then cut and compact a new pad in the same spot, which is usually the driest ground on the parcel.
My lot is low, near White Lick Creek. Will the spot stay wet?
Not if it is filled properly. The hole is filled in lifts, compacted and graded with a fall away from the house. If the yard was already wet, the drainage can be fixed on the same visit. If the lot is in the mapped floodplain, ask the town before fill is brought in to raise it.
Do you pour the new patio or slab?
No. On Grade strips the spot, brings in stone and compacts a flat base ready for a concrete crew to pour. The base is the part that decides whether the slab cracks, and that is the part Travis does.
