Snow Removal in Brownsburg, IN
Brownsburg doubled in size between 2000 and 2020, and the new streets run right up to the farm ground north of town. Snow work here covers the light industrial lots near the I-74 exits, subdivision entrances and HOA streets north of US 136, older streets with roadside ditches, and long drives on county roads toward Pittsboro and Lizton. Travis plows, salts and hauls on all of them.

Snow removal in Brownsburg
Industrial lots near the I-74 exits
The light industrial ground near the I-74 exits has shops, warehouses, contractor yards and offices, with lots that have to be open when the first shift arrives. Truck lanes and loading doors come first, then the employee parking, then the walks to the door. The piles go to the edges agreed in the fall, clear of the doors, the hydrants and the drain inlets, and they stay there until they are hauled.
A contractor yard is often part paved and part stone, and the two surfaces need different treatment. On the paved lanes the plow scrapes down and the salt goes on. On the stone the plow rides a little high, so the gravel stays in the yard instead of in the pile. The commercial snow removal contracts page explains how the scope for a site like that is written down.
Subdivisions and HOA entrances
Most of Brownsburg's growth has been subdivisions on the flat clay on both sides of White Lick Creek. The town plows the public streets. The entrance, the common drives, the mailbox clusters, the paths and any streets the HOA still owns are the association's to clear. The HOA documents and the plat say which streets are public, and Travis asks for them before he prices the whole season for the board.
The board picks the trigger depth, whether the entrances and mailbox clusters get salt with every plowing, and whether the windrow the town plow leaves across the entrance is cleared after the street is done. Those choices go into one agreement that the board can show residents when the questions start. It is easier to settle them in the fall than in the middle of a storm.
Older streets with roadside ditches
The neighborhoods from the 1950s and 1960s were built with roadside ditches instead of curbs, and every drive crosses the ditch on a culvert. In winter that changes where snow can go. Push the snow from the drive into the ditch and it packs over the culvert mouth. When it melts, the water has nowhere to go, backs up beside the drive and freezes across it. That is the ice patch at the end of the drive that never seems to leave.
So the snow from those drives goes on the yard side, away from the culvert, and the culvert ends are kept open. The same goes for the ditch along a county road outside town. Where a culvert is crushed or silted and the ditch backs up every thaw, that is a summer repair, and On Grade does that work too.
County roads toward Pittsboro and Lizton
Drive north on any county road and within a few minutes the houses thin out and the fields start. Out there the drives are long, often gravel, and they drift where the wind comes off open ground. A house on a few acres with a long run from the road, or a farmstead with a lane to the barn, is a different job from a subdivision drive. The edges are staked before the ground freezes so the plow can find them.
On a gravel run the plow rides a little high so the stone stays on the drive, and the turnaround at the house and the apron at the barn are pushed wide. Salt goes on any slope down toward the creek and on the stretch where the car stops at the road. Homeowners can call when it snows or put the drive on a seasonal agreement.
Construction sites and ice
New houses keep going up around Brownsburg through the winter. A build site needs its stone construction entrance open for the concrete trucks and the lumber delivery, and the snow pushed where it will not end up in the footings or the basement hole. A builder can put one entrance or a whole street of lots on one agreement. The stone is plowed high so the entrance keeps its surface for the finished drive.
Across all of it, ice is a bigger problem than depth. Central Indiana gets a few real snows a winter and more freezing rain than anyone wants, and the refreeze after a thaw catches lots that were plowed clean. The contract says when salt goes down and where. The snow removal and plowing page covers the full service across central Indiana.

Questions people ask
Not seeing yours? Call (317) 203-8928 and ask Travis, or read the guides.
Where should snow from my drive go on a ditch street?
Onto the yard side, away from the culvert under the drive. Snow packed into the ditch over the culvert mouth blocks the melt, and the water backs up beside the drive and freezes across the end of it. Keeping the culvert ends open lets the ditch carry the water off the way it was built to.
Does the town clear HOA common areas in Brownsburg?
No. The town plows the public streets. The entrance, common drives, mailbox clusters, paths and any streets the HOA still owns belong to the association, and clearing them is the association's job. The board decides the trigger depth and the salting, and one seasonal contract covers all of it.
Can a builder get snow removal for a construction entrance?
Yes. The stone entrance on a new build is plowed so the concrete trucks and deliveries can get in, with the snow pushed away from the footings and the basement hole. The plow rides a little high so the stone stays put, because that entrance usually becomes the base of the finished drive.
Are long drives north of Brownsburg plowed too?
Yes. Drives on county roads toward Pittsboro, Lizton and North Salem are plowed to the stone without scraping the gravel into the yard. The edges are staked before the ground freezes, and the turnaround and the barn apron are pushed wide. A homeowner can call when it snows or put the drive on the season.
What does a snow contract for a shop or warehouse lot include?
The areas to clear and the order, usually truck lanes and doors first, then parking and walks. The trigger depth, when salt goes down, where the piles go and whether hauling is included. The lot is walked in the fall so curbs, inlets and hydrants are marked while they can still be seen. Estimates are free.
